Our Story

In the 1990s, James and Bettina Birch left Los Angeles with their two young children, Josh and Anna, and purchased a patch of raw land in the Sierra foothills with the dream of building a generational small family farm. While James and Bettina separated, they both loved the land and remained neighbors. James later married Dawn and the two of them kept Flora Bella alive for the next decade. Today, Anna and her husband Jamie, along with their three children—Sam, Jack, and Peter—and Willy the dog, have taken the reins. Beto, who worked alongside James for the past 15 years, continues to be an integral part of the team as they nurture the next chapter at Flora Bella Farm. Through each chapter, the Birch Family has poured their lives into cultivating the farm, creating a legacy of care, community, and exceptional produce.
